about me

hi, i’m nikki - some of you may already know me as i have been teaching fitness classes in banbury, brackley and buckingham for the past 10 years.

i was born in doncaster (south yorkshire) where i studied biology, chemistry, physics(!) and sports science at a-level then spent 3 years at durham university where i gained a bsc (hons) degree in biological sciences. i moved to banbury in 2000 after graduating from durham where i spent 7 years working in microbiology and biochemistry laboratories. during this time i gained many of my fitness qualifications and spent my evenings and weekends teaching classes.

i met my husband (timm) on the treadmill at the gym and we now have two lovely (but hard work) children – lily (3 years) and oliver (1 year). i stopped working in the lab after having lily as i wanted to spend time with my family but carried on teaching classes.  i am currently teaching classes at spiceball leisure centre and at bannatynes health club in banbury. i teach aerobics, step, legs, bums and tums, body conditioning, spinning (indoor cycling), bts body pump, aqua (shallow and deep) and freestyle fitness yoga. i am fully qualified in gym instruction, personnel training, nutrition and ante and postnatal exercise.

when i was pregnant i was very confused about the do’s and don’ts of exercising during and after pregnancy as everyone seemed to be giving me different advice. i taught classes during both of my pregnancies and although my children are perfect (except at night!), i suffered enormously – i suffered from backache and symphysis pubic dysfunction (spd), both of which got progressively worse as my pregnancy's progressed. i strongly believe that if i was given the information that i know now, i would not have suffered so much so i decided to do a course to find out why! if i can help one woman not go through the pain that i went through because of lack of knowledge, then my qualification will be worth while!

anyway, to cut a long story short, i set up yummy mummy’s to offer education and fitness classes to ante and postnatal women in banbury, allowing mums and mums-to-be to workout safely with the knowledge that that all exercises are tailor made to meet their needs as well as providing an opportunity to meet other mums and mums-to-be.

i want you to know that i understand what you are going through during and after pregnancy and how you feel after having a baby (exhilarated but exhausted and shocked about how your body has changed!). even if you don’t want to take part in any of my ante or postnatal classes, please feel free to e-mail me if you have any queries regarding exercising during and after pregnancy.

take care of yourself – your baby is happy when you are happy and well.
